After narrating my steak date night fiasco blog for you all last week (immense gratitude for the support <3 ), I figured it was only right to give steak night a redemption arc. This time: all the steak, all the fries, but absolutely no finance freaks.
A Week of Hustle, A Night of Indulgence
After five straight days of work, five 5AM workouts, and school on my so-called "days off," I’m once again attempting to balance Maslow’s Hierarchy of Hustle: getting to the bag, getting to the body, getting to the diploma—and maintaining a social life so I don’t become another femcel meme.
As per tradition, I’m sprinting home from my full-time retail job in Midtown with 40 minutes to get ready. Am I exhausted and tempted to OD on melatonin gummies instead of going out? Yes. But I won’t be this young and fine forever, so I might as well glam up while the glow lasts.
Spring Vibes & City Style
Winter’s grip is loosening in NYC, with spring flirting its way in through 50–60 degree days. Translation: I left my coat at home and gave the city a little skin.
Tonight’s fit:
My trusty, comfy Balenciaga sandals (great for running from weirdos—iconic first date shoes)
Givenchy Antigona bag
Finished with a cloud of YSL Libre because obviously, I leave a trail everywhere I go
First Bites at Pastis NYC
Location: Pastis, West Village—a forever favorite.
Walking into Pastis is like being transported straight to a bistro in Paris. The vibe is rustic-chic: cozy lighting, vintage décor, and a salon full of mismatched tables and stylish guests mid-convo. The acoustics are magic—you can talk freely without hearing a single word from the next table. Everything becomes part of this low, melodic hum that adds to the restaurant’s charm.
Let’s Eat: The Menu Hits
We skipped the menu overview (we’ve been here before, we’re not new) and went straight in with:
Shrimp Cocktail
Ricotta Ravioli
Both were light yet rich—fresh, warm, and not too heavy. Perfect prep for the real stars of the evening: crispy, bottomless fries and our mains—lobster and a medium-rare filet (and yes, this time it was actually medium-rare, not raw).
Everything arrived quickly, piping hot, and cooked to perfection. Pastis is that spot—perfect for date nights or a girls’ night out. Their menu caters to all cravings: seafood, pasta, steak—you name it.
Why Pastis Never Misses
This is my third Pastis experience (NYC and Miami), and it remains undefeated. A few tips:
Make a reservation. The place is always buzzing, and even the outdoor tables stay full in cold weather.
Bring an appetite. The portions are generous, and you’ll want to try everything.
Come for the ambiance, stay for the food. It's perfect for meaningful convo, wine-fueled laughter, and people-watching without the eavesdropping.
A Calm Night for Once—And That’s Okay
No adrenaline rushes. No dramatic escapes. No red flags waving from across the steak. Just good food, good wine, and genuinely great company. It was exactly the kind of night I needed—simple, warm, and nourishing in every way.
Until next time, lovers.
